Who is the Marda Loop Night Market?

THE INGLEWOOD NIGHT MARKET IS EXPANDING INTO NEW INNER-CITY COMMUNITIES THIS SUMMER

The producers of the Inglewood Night Market are expanding this local street market to inner-city communities, such as Marda Loop and 4th Street this summer.

The producers of the Inglewood Night Market are back and excited to bring you a Night Market in Marda Loop The roster of inner-city night markets will now also include the Inglewood Night Market of course, and the 4th Street Night Market which made its debut in the summer of 2021.

To keep the brand and local essence that’s beloved in Inglewood, event-goers can expect a consistent experience when attending Marda Loop and 4th Street, while staying true to the vibrancy and culture of each individual neighbourhood.

Each of these markets are free community events and great for individuals, groups, couples, and families to attend - dogs are also always welcomed and encouraged. The format is a recognizable street-style market with over 60 local artists, makers and vendors lining the streets, local food trucks feeding hungry shoppers and a craft area onsite to engage young creators — all to the backdrop of some of Calgary’s best live musicians and entertainers.

“Over the years, the Inglewood Night Market has grown into a hub that attracts thousands of Calgarians and local businesses to the community of Inglewood on the second Friday of the month every summer. We’ve seen the impact of these markets first-hand, and while each will bring its own flavour, we’re looking to expand this night market concept to various neighbourhoods in Calgary’s inner-city,” says Jennifer Rempel, Night Market Event Producer.

LOCATED IN THE HEART OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Each market footprint is strategically positioned off of the main road of the community, on the edge of the business zone, but not quite in the residential area. This allows the market to engage the businesses in the community, while being easily accessible for the residents of the neighbourhood and beyond.

“We love to find interesting ways for people to explore communities, while still supporting local business,” says Rempel

The Marda Loop Night Market will take place along 34th Avenue between 18th and 19th Street SW surrounded by many well-known Marda Loop businesses, such as WOW Bakery and Cafe, the Clothing Bar Boutique, Marda Loop Brewing Company, and more.

The 4th Street Night Market will take place at the same location as last year in Mission along Elbow Drive between 4th and 5th Street SW overlooking the Elbow River.

Of course, the Inglewood Night Market will return to its original location on 10th Avenue between 10th and 11th Street SE - starting at Cafe Gravity and ending just before Cold Garden and Ol Beautiful Brewing Company.

ENGAGING BOTH COMMUNITY AND LOCAL BUSINESSES

The primary goal with these inner-city night markets is to not only engage the businesses that are already in the community, but to introduce smaller makers, artists and local brands to a new market of shoppers - while bringing their own flavour to the community itself. This mix of standalone brick-and-mortar shops and restaurants, mixed with local vendors and food trucks is what gives each market its own personality unique to the community in a similar shopping experience that Calgarians are used to.

“We engage with the surrounding business community to stay open late and enjoy a new customer base who may be exploring the area for the first time. For the markets we curate each one with a balance, to make the event feel like a sense of discovery for new artisanal products, delicious treats and hip vintage finds,” says Rempel.

Follow each market on social media for vendor updates, entertainment lineups, news and special announcements leading up to each event. We can’t wait to celebrate the summer with you and continue expanding into new communities each year!
